About

This has been a project long in the making, at least for me. In the winter of 2012 a friend got me started crocheting outfits for angel babies. At the time I lived in Idaho and we often brought our outfits to a lady in Utah, Heidi, to donate - since our local hospital claimed they had no use for such tiny outfits. She is a photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and often does her own crafting days to help create tiny outfits for tiny angels. We brought outfits down for several months until my husband got a job in Utah. Once we got moved this wonderful friend convinced me that I could be a photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep - so I started working in that direction.

While waiting to hear back on my application I realized I would need my own outfits to take with me if I were a photographer. I did some searching and found nothing in my area with a closet of outfits for NILMDTS photographers to take with them on angel baby photo shoots. I realized quickly that I would have to start one. After seeing all the beauty and love in Heidi's magic closet (as it's often called) I wanted to have a little of that beauty and love in my life too. It took a couple months for the purchase of our new home to go through and to get the closet all painted and ready for use. There's not much to tell about those months - but there were plans in the works - some that failed miserably, some that soared - and there were sleepless nights of wondering how to make it all work.

I knew there was no way I could make it on my own so I reached out to my friends. Heidi sent me with several (40!) outfits a couple weeks back. A friend I met because she learned to crochet from my angel baby patterns brought me things she'd made over the course of several months. There have been others who have given things here and there and I would be remiss if I neglected to mention my little sister. After reading some stories online she decided she wanted to help make outfits. She convinced my mom to help her with the patterns and along with my aunt they have added many darling things to the closet.

I picked the name Lily's Angel Closet in memory of my my own angel. You can read more about her HERE.

  1. Thank you so much for what you are doing. I have a little angle and 2 preemies that are all grown up now. I been making blankets and giving them to a local church. Would love get more involved in a project like this in the Western New York area.
